Compensation Range:

$19.52 - $26.25

Position Summary:

Hiring Salary Range: $19.52 to $21.44 per hour depending on qualifications.

This PT Associate develops, refines and implements effective student retention strategies and programs, including working one-on-one with students to develop individual two-year course plans that include degree objective, and address transfer issues for destination universities. The position is student-facing and performed in-person. In other words, remote or virtual work is not routinely an option. The position is currently budgeted for 21-29 hours per week subject to the Director's discretion.

Job Duties:

  • The position includes responsibility to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO). In the DSO role, the PT Associate advises students on F-1 visa immigration matters and maintains records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, known as SEVIS.
  • Organizes substantive, ongoing, orientation programming, including delivering arrival orientations and co-teaching semester-length orientation seminar for first-year F-1 students.
  • Develops and sustains student leadership programming with priority on integrating U.S. and international students.
  • Nurtures relationships with sister 4-year colleges/universities to encourage students' persistence and completion (including transfer).
  • Tracks and monitors statistical results on retention, graduation and achievement of students' personal and academic goals.
  • In addition to navigating multiple databases (immigration and student information systems), the incumbent will work with students and others coming in-person to our offices; and if credentialed will teach SLS 1101 (1 credit), a course specifically designed for international (F-1 visa) students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three years of prior-related work experience. The position requires at least a High School diploma orGEDequivalent if substituting experience for education.

  • Developing, refining, and implementing effective F-1 international student retention strategies and programs.
  • Promoting the personal development of students and acquisition of life skills needed to adjust to a different culture, delivering substantive and ongoing orientation programming.
  • Teaching at a community college or university serving diverse student populations. promoting student access to integrated student services, creating a culture in a higher education context that promotes intercultural learning.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and reporting statistical results on retention, graduation, and student learning.
  • Working collaboratively with faculty and academic and student service departments.
  • Understanding immigration regulations and changes in government policy as they concern F-1 international students.
  • A master's degree, foreign language proficiency, and experience living in another country are added pluses.
