Job Description:
Position Summary
Hamilton College is seeking dependable and safety-minded individuals to join our transportation team as a Campus Shuttle Driver. This role is essential in supporting our campus community by providing safe and reliable transportation for students. With the exception of Federal/State Mandated Benefits, this position is Non-Benefited Part-Time / On-Call (total work hours limited to under 910 per year). Whether you are looking for a few hours a week or the flexibility of an on-call schedule, this position offers a unique way to engage with the college environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Safe Transportation: Operate 7-passenger mini-vans and 12-passenger transit vans safely under various weather conditions (rain, sleet, and snow).
  • Shuttle Services: Provide transportation to local transit hubs (airports/train stations) along with off-campus and on-campus jitney shuttle loops.
  • Vehicle Inspections: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking lights, tires, and fluid levels.
  • Passenger Safety: Ensure all passengers are following safety protocols, including seatbelt use and capacity limits.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate mileage logs and report any mechanical issues or incidents immediately to the Transportation Coordinator.

Schedule & Hours:
  • Flexible Availability: Hours vary based on the academic calendar.
  • Peak Periods: Increased hours are available immediately before and during student breaks (Fall, Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring breaks) for shuttle services.
  • Shifts: May include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on campus needs.

Qualifications:
  • License: Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License (Class D/Standard). No CDL required.
  • Driving Record: Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations within the past three years.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of licensed driving experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills and a professional, "service-oriented" demeanor when interacting with students and staff.
  • Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods and assist passengers with luggage or equipment as needed.

Compensation Range:
$20.00 per hour
