Position Overview
The shuttle driver plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of students, faculty, and staff to athletic events, intercampus travel, and off-campus events. This position requires a responsible, courteous, and safety-conscious individual with excellent driving skills and a commitment to providing a positive experience for passengers.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a school van to transport students, faculty, and staff to athletic events, intercampus locations, and other designated destinations.
- Adhere to strict schedules and ensure timely arrival and departure for all trips.
- Perform thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee the van is in optimal and safe operating condition, promptly reporting any maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and comfortable environment within the van.
- Provide courteous and professional assistance to all passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Enforce school policies and procedures regarding passenger conduct and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, trip details, and any incidents that may occur.
- Maintain strict adherence to all traffic laws, school transportation guidelines, and hands-free cellular device regulations while driving.
- Communicate effectively with school personnel and passengers regarding trip details and any changes.
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor in potentially high-pressure situations, such as traffic delays or unexpected changes.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record(must provide a copy of DMV driving record). Verification of driving record will be required, and continued employment is contingent upon maintaining a clean record.
- Optional: possess a valid CDL(Commercial Driver License).
- Minimum of 1 year of professional driving experience, preferably transporting passengers.
- Excellent knowledge of local traffic laws and routes, including familiarity with athletic event locations and intercampus routes, preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to safety and passenger well-being.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and employee information.
- Experience working with children or in a school environment is highly preferred.
- Experience driving larger passenger vehicles is preferred.
- First aid and CPR certification is a plus, but it will be provided if it is not currently an active certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs(i.e., handling student luggage or equipment), and assist students with special physical needs if required.
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting to perform routine vehicle inspections or assist passengers.
- You must also be able to climb stairs, balance, and reach above and below shoulder level.
Standard Hours
Start: M - F by 7:00 AM
End: M - Th 3:30 PM, F 3:00 PM

Salary Range: $25.00 per hour
