Job description

Description

The Student Shuttle Driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for students traveling to and from campus for official college activities, including academic programs, class trips, recreational outings, and special events. Shuttle drivers may also assist with campus parking shuttles during major events. This is a pool position; candidates will be interviewed and hired on an as-needed basis.


Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Transport students to designated locations in a safe, timely, and courteous manner, following all Keuka College and New York State safety regulations.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; clean vehicle after each trip and report mechanical issues to Facilities Services.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation, including driving logs, trip forms, and fuel receipts.
  • Always uphold vehicle cleanliness and passenger safety.
  • Address and report any violations of shuttle rules (e.g., smoking, inappropriate conduct) and notify Campus Safety of security concerns, safety hazards, or emergency incidents.
  • Respond appropriately to vehicle accidents or passenger illnesses by contacting emergency services and cooperating with responders.
  • Follow all scheduling and assignment procedures as directed by the Office of Student Life, coordinate changes through proper channels.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and maintain compliance with institutional policies.
  • Always Represent Keuka College in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and college standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Keuka College's traditional on-campus program.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid Class D New York State Driver's License with no more than one recordable violation in the past 3 years.
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Ability to pass a DMV background check.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, staff, faculty, and the public.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
