Student Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator

Reports to the Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment. Collaborates directly with prospective students, parents, faculty, area schools and community organizations. The Student Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator supports the crucial functions of the Student Recruitment and Enrollment department by recruiting, admitting and enrolling new and transfer students to Detroit Cristo Rey. As a member of the Student Recruitment and Enrollment team, this person is responsible for meeting the annual enrollment goal set by the President and Executive Leadership Team. This role is the first point of contact for many students, parents and community members and the position requires both a commitment to the mission of Cristo Rey – and a particular passion for expanding our unique program to underserved students – and an ability to build community and develop and manage relationships with local schools, organizations, and churches. This position reports directly to the Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment and supports all efforts to articulate the mission, programs and opportunities of Detroit Cristo Rey to students, parents/guardians, elementary/middle school educators, principals and counselors, and other gatekeepers in the community. He/she must be able to adapt to changing responsibilities and maintain absolute confidentiality.

All the duties and standards within this job description will be performed as directed by the President and Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment and according to the established policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in Detroit Cristo Rey. policy and procedures manual.

What You'll Do
  • Understand, embrace and implement the school's mission and philosophy as written in the Mission Effectiveness Standards, participate in the Christ-centered life of the school; and model the school's philosophy in working with students, parents, colleagues and administration.
  • Represent Detroit Cristo Rey to potential students and their families at high school fairs, expos, church services, community fairs, and other community gatherings, often with representatives of the school community such as student ambassadors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Student Recruitment and Enrollment and Director of Communications to develop marketing strategies, especially with design of promotional materials and use of social media. Will also assist in the design of advertisements, mailings, web pages, and other publications that will promote the school to prospective students and their families.
  • Support and participate as appropriate in the interview and admissions process which includes coordinating with faculty, Corporate Work Study staff, school leadership and prospective students and their families to ensure a timely, smooth and effective admissions process.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the admission and financial aid file for each enrollment applicant with all academic and endorsement documents.
  • Lead the Student and Parent Ambassador Programs which includes recruiting students and parents, providing ambassadorial training, and scheduling ambassadors for a variety of external and internal events.
  • Provide logistical support and planning to internal and external engagement in school ambassadorial programs such as Open Houses, Shadow Days and other promotional events.
  • Provide superior customer service by maintaining timely communication in Spanish & English with prospective students and their families.
  • Support families with the timely completion and maintenance of financial aid applications for incoming students in collaboration with the Business Office.
  • Maintain admissions databases to create and support an efficient admissions and Student Recruitment and Enrollment process.
  • Model appropriate and ethical behavior and professionalism for the student population.
  • Attend and participate in Cristo Rey Network programs and professional development for Recruitment & Enrollment (Admissions) Directors or Enrollment Coordinators or other programs as directed by the Director.
  • Some nights and weekends are required.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least 3 years in recruitment, enrollment services, non-profit management, marketing, student services or related fields.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to serve economically disadvantaged, racially diverse students and their families with patience and humility.
  • Friendly, outgoing, collaborative with a strong customer service focus and acts with a sense of urgency.
  • Highly collaborative, dynamic team player with the ability to foster a large number professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills (verbal, listening, & written).
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the school and our many constituencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities with demanding time frames.
  • A deep belief that all students deserve excellent, Catholic, college preparatory education.
  • Compliance with BCI and FBI background checks and completion of Protecting God's Children program or equivalent local Diocesan-required program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid driver's license required; must be insurable with a good driving record. Reliable transportation to recruiting sites is required.
