Student Ministry Intern
About Us:
King's Harbor Church is a nondenominational Christ-centered church of approximately 600 people in Torrance, CA. We are called by Jesus Christ to multiply Gospel-centered leaders to cultivate Kingdom flourishing.
Role:
The Student Ministries Intern is a part-time volunteer position for the summer. He/She will work closely with the Student Minister and Associate Student Minister. The purpose of the internship is to provide personal, spiritual, and professional development through a variety of youth ministry experiences. The intern will assist with all regular programming, including but not limited to preaching, middle and high school youth group gatherings, Sunday morning services, camps, and special events.
Department.: Family Ministries/Student Ministries
Reports to: Student Minister
Hours per week: up to 25
Job Description:
  1. Fully participate in Wednesday night youth group, Sunday church activities, staff meetings and one-on-one check-ins with the Student Minister.
  2. Attend Sunday worship.
  3. Assist in teaching both Middle School and High School.
  4. Build rapport and relationships with students and parents in the youth ministry.
  5. Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of both middle school and high school games/activities. Activities may include worship, devotionals, service projects, and special events.
  6. Serve as a counselor at student camp or trips.
  7. Assist with social media presence of the youth group and engage with the teens there in an uplifting way.
  8. Learn about balancing the demands of ministry with personal spiritual development, friendships, and the other responsibilities of life.
  9. Ask questions, be creative, offer and implement your ideas, seek servant leadership opportunities, take risks, learn, and see God work through you to make an impact on others.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. 18-25 years old
  2. Must be enrolled or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program from an accredited college or university.
  3. Must provide own transportation to/from the church and/or planned activities.
  4. Complete a background check and child safety training.
  5. Must adhere to KHC policies for safety of the congregation and students.
  6. Have knowledge of Scripture and clearly articulate the Gospel message.

Knowledge and Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of personal/project management principles, administration practices, organization techniques, and methodologies.
  2. Ability to plan and organize projects and prepare detailed reports and presentations.
  3. Ability to use computers and a variety of software applications.

Preferred Skills:
  1. Ability to lead devotional time.
  2. Prior experience working with youth.
