Job description

Position Objective:

The Family Camp High School Assistant Lead oversees and implements all High School program elements under the leadership of the Family Camp High School Lead and in conjunction with them they will equip the Family Camp High School staff with the support and tools to implement a holistic, excellent, and developmentally appropriate program that leads high school students one step closer to Jesus, in a manner consistent with Mount Hermonโ€™s mission, vision, and values. ย 

General Qualifications:ย 

The Family Camp High School Assistant Lead is a Ministerial position. Ministerial staff render their work, stewardship, relationships, and behavior as evidence of being followers of Jesus Christ while embracing and affirming Mount Hermonโ€™s mission, vision, and beliefs. They are responsible for defining, cultivating, and leading Mount Hermonโ€™s Christian community, conference programs, and retreats.ย ย 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Work as a team with the Family Camp High School Lead to explore, create, and coordinate program development and implementation for junior high and high school campers in attendance at Family Camp. Disciple, train, and empower staff to disciple students; helping them encounter God and connect to others.
  • Develop a warm and welcoming atmosphere for students and staff
  • Ensure campersโ€™ emotional and physical safety/well-being.
  • Coordinate and implement all set up and tear down of program elements.
  • Share in the responsibilities of keeping youth areas clean and orderly.
  • Implement and document program inventory and evaluation.
  • Attend a weekly meeting with the Family Ministries Youth Intern and the Leadership Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by theย Family Ministries Youth Intern.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school graduate.
  • At least two years of college experience preferred.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid Certified (before arriving at camp).

Work Experience:

  • Prior experience working with high school students.
  • Prior experience with youth programming preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to articulate the Gospel of Jesus Christ as communicated in Scripture.
  • Ability to demonstrate a personal, committed, and mature faith in Christ.
  • Positive role model, listener, enthusiastic leader, and friend.
  • Possess creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to plan and implement program.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Must have strong relational skills and high energy to engage with youth.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.

Physical Demands:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and hiking.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to the requirement for onsite community living.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in Mount Hermon's mission, vision, values, and commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Possible opportunities to work with campers with special needs through our One on One program in assisting them physically, cognitively, and emotionally as they engage the camp experience in a way best suited to their individual needs.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provideproof of eligibility to work in the United States.
