Job description

Job Summary
This position is for a UM-Dearborn student who is enrolled at least part-time and who is available to work 15 hours per week for the duration of the employment period.
Responsibilities*
  • Develop and facilitate monthly leadership drop-in workshops for UM-Dearborn students
  • Develop and lead workshops for student groups around various requested leadership topics
  • Assist with planning Civic Action Week, Alternative Breaks, MLK Day of Service, and monthly Day of Service events
  • Maintain administrative processes and tools (e.g., community service site list, service hour
    tracking, etc.)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide support to students, staff, and faculty utilizing the Office of Student Life services and resources, and maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism
  • Serve as a first point of contact for students looking for referral to campus and community resources
  • Maintain administrative processes and tools (e.g., VictorsLink, student organization mail distribution, answering departmental emails)
  • Market Office of Student Life events and initiatives (e.g., print materials, tabling, classroom visits, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when working with the students, staff, and faculty
  • Support Office of Student Life programming initiatives such as Wolverine Welcome Day, Homecoming, MLK Day of Service, etc.
  • Other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications*
  • Enrolled at least part-time as a UM-Dearborn student
  • Ability to speak publicly and represent the Office of Student Life in a positive light
  • High level of interpersonal skills: can listen effectively and interact with people appropriately and professionally
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Available to work some nights and weekends
  • Must be able to attend August staff training (dates and times to be announced)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Desired Qualifications*
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who will be enrolled through the W27 semester
  • Federal Work Study Eligible
