Job description

The PLV Biology Department is seeking student laboratory technicians. Students will provide technical assistance concerning experimental preparations and procedures for laboratory classes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The preparation of lab materials for undergraduate lab experiments, i.e. preparing solutions, micro-biologic media/subcultures, dissection specimens, electrophoresis apparatus, etc.
  • Conduct inventories of chemicals, lab supplies, IT equipment, instruments, anatomy models, lab equipment, etc.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate standard lab equipment and instrumentation
  • Involved in regulatory compliant lab practices and record-keeping
  • Actively involved in general laboratory maintenance which includes organizing lab classrooms, prep rooms, and stockrooms, washing glassware, and autoclaving/segregating micro-waste
  • Lab safety training is required and provided before working in the labs.
