Description

A student worker in the Admissions office should possess interpersonal skills as they will be the greeting all students and guests as they arrive at Mid. Student workers will be tasked with directing students and guests to the appropriate department or assisting when able, routing incoming calls to the appropriate department, maintaining the schedule of advising appointments, providing campus tours, inputting and maintaining student data and forms, assist the departments of student services as needed.
Examples of Duties
  1. Operates the Mid Michigan College switchboard
  2. Greets guests as they enter the college, and answers any questions they may have.
  3. Assists Admissions staff with event planning and execution.
  4. Provides student-led campus tours.
  5. Supports the Admissions, Academic Advising, and other Student Service departments with office tasks.
  6. Assists in communication efforts to prospective and applied students, including making outgoing calls related to Admissions efforts when needed.
  7. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, strategic and service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licensure:
  • High school diploma and current Mid student is required.

Experience:
  • Experience working in a customer service environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in an office setting is preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal and written format, with various constituencies including students, faculty, administrators, and community members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student records and follow FERPA guidelines.
