Student Advisor-GA Fall 26A
Job Purpose
The Graduate Associate (Student Advisor) provides essential support for CAS Student Services. This position assists the office's efforts to coordinate academic advising in CAS. The GA is responsible for assigning faculty advisors, processing changes of major/concentration/minor, processing transfer credit approval forms, providing support for new student orientation, and other functions related to student retention.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform reception duties for the office.
• Assist individuals who contact/visit the office for various reasons (changes of major, transfer credit approval, advising information, etc.). Make appropriate referrals to Coordinator, Director, or other offices.
• Process and distribute student forms and information to appropriate offices/individuals.
• Assist with new student orientation.
• Provide general office support.
Qualifications
Ability to use office equipment; expertise in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to work well with faculty, staff, students, and families. Must be dependable, detail-oriented, analytical, conscientious, and self-motivated.
Preferred Skills
Enrollment in a College of Arts and Sciences degree program. Work experience in an office setting. Knowledge of Winthrop undergraduate curriculum.
