Job description

Southland Holdings is seeking a highly motivated Safety Professional for our project in Austin, TX to support the safety department in ensuring the implementation and enforcement of safety policies, procedures, and practices across the organization. Candidate must possess integrity, safety knowledge and the ability to effectively communicate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead daily safety meetings to promote awareness and compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections on construction sites.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement site-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Complete detailed accident reports and conduct thorough accident investigations.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce adherence to safety procedures.
  • Monitor safety programs and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for new employees and contractors.
  • Develop job hazard analysis (JHA) and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) documentation.
  • Stay current with OSHA regulations and evolving industry safety standards.
  • Actively promote a safety-conscious culture within the company.

Requirements:
  • 4+ years of relevant construction experience, preferably with water/wastewater, pipe, concrete, and Tunneling 
  • OSHA 30 hour in Construction certification
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER is a plus
  • Training in CHST; STSC; OSHA 510; 500, 502, ACOE EM-385-1-1 is a plus
  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Experience with Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Steel Erection, and Excavation
  • Willing to travel/relocate
  • ASP and CHST Required
