Job description

Job Title: Structural Welder

Job Description

This role focuses on the inspection, repair, fabrication, and rebuilding of service rig equipment and structural components. You will perform full-scope welding and fabrication work, including structural repairs, component modifications, equipment retrofits, and custom fabrication projects. A significant portion of the work involves repairing and rebuilding field-used equipment rather than working with new materials, requiring strong diagnostic skills and a high level of craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect service rig equipment, structural components, and related assemblies to identify damage, wear, and structural deficiencies.
  • Assess damaged equipment and determine appropriate repair methods, materials, and welding processes required to restore structural integrity.
  • Perform structural welding using fluxcore and metalcore processes in all positions on mild structural steel components.
  • Execute fitting work on skids, ladders, handrails, platforms, and other structural assemblies to ensure accurate alignment and fit-up prior to welding.

Essential Skills

  • Journeyman Welder certification with approximately 5 years of structural welding experience.
  • Proficiency in fluxcore and metalcore welding processes.
  • Ability to weld in all positions on mild structural steel.
  • Strong structural welding skills with experience working on structural steel components.
  • Fitting experience with skids, ladders, handrails, platforms, and similar structural assemblies.
  • Ability to perform welding and fitting work on field-used equipment, including repair and rebuild tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CWB ticket for FCAW and SMAW.
  • Quality Control experience related to welding and fabrication work.
  • Alberta overhead crane ticket or equivalent overhead crane certification.
  • Overhead crane operating experience.
  • Lead hand or supervisory experience in a welding or fabrication environment.

Work Environment

The standard shift is a day shift from Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with overtime available after 8 hours in a day regardless of total hours worked in the week. The environment emphasizes safety, teamwork, and efficient workflow within a busy industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
