Work Location:
Project work may require occasional travel or time spent on-site at project locations, which could include Lebanon, West Lafayette, or Indianapolis depending on project needs.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager will serve as a vital team member associated with managing the Project Team in all aspects of the build resulting in completion of the project on time, under budget, and with quality that exceeds the expectations of F.A. Wilhelm and our Clients. You will be responsible for the overall safety, direction, completion, and financial outcome of erection projects from initial budget through project closeout.
A. Project Start Up
  • In conjunction with the Project Superintendent, lead, direct, and coordinate the day-to-day management and construction activities of steel erection projects
  • Understanding of the structural steel fabrication and construction industries and standard construction practices.
  • Understanding of Steel Detailing and coordinate with Steel Detailers.
  • Ability to process submittals and shop drawings.
  • Understanding of AISC, OSHA, IBC, and AWS codes, and when and how to apply them

B. Project Build
  • Communicate with Clients and Project Managers regarding status, or potential questions or issues, and prepare, submit, and interpret Requests for Information
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural design drawings and specifications and fabricator shop and erection drawings.
  • Ability to price changes in the work and submit them to the customer
  • Conduct Constructability analysis to meet Wilhelm and the customer's needs
  • Resolve day-to-day issues that may arise to ensure a timely, safe, and profitable project

C. Project Closeout
  • Ensure substantial completion as defined in the specifications.
  • Assist with the submission of record drawings, maintenance manuals & warranties to ensure a smooth and successful closeout.

What it takes
  • 4-5+ years of experience in construction project management involving structural steel erection and/or fabrication projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or related field
  • Experience managing project budgets, pricing change orders, revisions, and project financials.
  • Experience working on industrial or heavy industrial construction projects such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar facilities.
  • OSHA 30-hour Certification Preferred
