Oneida Total Integrated Enterprises (OTIE) delivers full-service facility and infrastructure engineering design, environmental science, construction management, and munitions response services worldwide, with over 25 years of successful project performance.


OTIE is actively seeking a highly motivated, full-time Structural Department Manager in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, or Illinois.


The Structural Department Manager will lead and manage the Structural Engineering team. This role is critical in ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, and alignment with the company's strategic goals. The Structural Department Manager will oversee all Structural engineering staff, lead design projects, analyze team performance, make recommendations to strengthen the Structural team's capabilities and outcomes, and be a key contributor to the firm's continued growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Structural engineering on a wide variety of projects, project management, and team leadership, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership and Management:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Structural team, ensuring alignment with company goals and values.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of Structural engineering projects, including site development, infrastructure, transportation, water, and environmental systems.
  • Evaluate team performance, identify areas of improvement, and recommend support or changes as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for all staff. Advocate for resources when necessary to ensure staff have the tools to deliver exceptional results. Establish and promote a culture of teamwork and engineering excellence through collaboration inside and outside the department with company leaders, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of teamwork, engineering excellence, and growth.
  • Address critical gaps in core capabilities.
  • Manage client relationships and participate in business development efforts to grow the structural engineering workload.

Structural Engineering Analysis and Design

  • Lead design of multiple concurrent structural projects.
  • Perform quality control reviews of structural analysis and design performed by subordinate engineers.
  • Provide project management of multiple projects, coordinating supporting disciplines to ensure delivery of quality projects on time and on budget.

Financial Oversight and Profitability:

  • Analyze financial performance on projects, ensuring profitability and adherence to budgets.
  • Standardize proposal and fee calculations, adjusting to market-acceptable rates.
  • Conduct finance and budget meetings with staff and project managers to review financial reports and implement strategic action plans.
  • Manage single- and multi-discipline projects; ensure projects are executed on time, on budget, and adhere to client requirements. Follows plans and procedures developed by other PMs on multi-discipline projects when serving in a ย ย ย ย ย ย (Structural) Discipline Lead or QC role.ย 

Operational Efficiency and Process Improvement:

  • Provide tactical leadership, monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and client expectations. ย Conduct staff allocation/resource reviews to achieve these goals.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with relevant codes and regulations. Ensure that QA/QC reviews are completed for project deliverables.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes to improve efficiency and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Foster a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment.

Strategic Planning:

  • Work closely with staff to develop and execute professional development plans, setting clear goals and measurable objectives.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to the Director of Infrastructure regarding team performance, budget allocation, and resource needs.

Requirements

ย Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required. SE License preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Structural engineering for buildings. Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in leading large design teams through the design lifecycle with positive results.
  • Proven experience in budgeting and proposal development.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard proposal and fee structures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and tools, including accounting software
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to Structural engineering and construction.
