Structural Engineer I-II

Classic Engineering is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based consulting engineering firm established in 1998.

Throughout Michigan, the Midwest and around the country, Classic Engineering’s work on thousands of projects over 25 years can be found “in the bones” of all categories of buildings. Our portfolio of work includes hotels, health care facilities, commercial and residential construction, multi-family, senior and independent-living projects, educational, recreational, community, government and church buildings.

We are currently looking for a Licensed Structural Engineer (PE) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in structural engineering. Attention to detail, excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for structural design are a must.

Education:

  • Minimum BS in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.

Certifications:

  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

Technical Skills:

  • Strong grasp of structural analysis methods and building materials including wood, masonry, reinforced concrete, steel, and cold-form framing.

  • Able to work efficiently, prioritize tasks and think creatively.

  • Revit Experience

  • Experience with RAM, Risa, Enercalc or other structural modeling and analysis software.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and designing structural systems for a variety of project types.

  • Drafting and modeling structural projects in Revit to prepare construction documents.

  • Ask questions of other engineers to help with decision-making.

  • Review and respond to requests for information (RFIs).

  • Review and respond to shop drawing submittals

  • Communicate in a professional manner.

  • Coordinate engineering solutions with builders and architects.

  • Manage time and tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines.
