Structural Engineer

Overview:

Base Design Group is a full-service structural engineering consulting firm. Our building design practice consults with architects, developers and contractors on a variety of commercial, retail and multi-family residential buildings. Our specialty practice in cold-formed steel design consults with contractors and architects on buildings of all types, sizes and markets.

We are currently offering an opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our industry leading Specialty Structural Engineering practice area in cold-formed steel framing design. Once proficiency is gained within the initial practice area of hire, all our engineers have opportunities to work within both our general building design practice and specialty practice areas. This provides for a unique and well-rounded experience with unlimited opportunity for career growth within our firm.

Responsibilities:

This individual will work with senior engineers and will be responsible for performing structural analysis, engineering design, and drafting tasks for cold-formed steel framing including curtain wall framing systems, load-bearing structures, floor and roof framing systems, trusses, lateral bracing, and stability analysis. Ideal candidate for this position is one that is highly motivated and is not easily overwhelmed in a fast-paced work environment, is comfortable working individually or as part of a team, possesses excellent time management skills and communicates effectively with clients and team members.

Essential Qualifications:

  • BSCE with structural concentration from an ABET-accredited engineering program required.
  • PE or EIT certification required with the ability to work towards PE licensure.
  • 3-8 years of structural engineering design experience in commercial building construction.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318 and AISI.

Skills:

  • Experience in the design of cold-formed steel structures and assemblies is a plus.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency of structural analysis software, AutoCAD and REVIT is beneficial.
