About the Role
The Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for the design, review, and technical oversight of civil and structural infrastructure supporting mining and processing operations. This role ensures facilities and infrastructure are safe, compliant, constructible, and optimized for long-term operational performance. Responsibilities span site development, earthworks, drainage, foundations, and structural systems across multiple project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Civil & Structural Design
  • Design and oversee site development including grading, drainage systems, access roads, and laydown areas.
  • Provide engineering support for waste rock facilities, heap leach pads, tailings storage facilities, and stormwater management systems.
  • Design and review foundations and structural supports for crushers, mills, ADR plants, conveyors, and other heavy process equipment.
  • Integrate safety-in-design principles into all civil and structural solutions.

Project Support & Execution
  • Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Support feasibility-level studies (PEA, PFS, FS) with civil and structural input.
  • Support infrastructure expansions and modifications, including investigation and resolution of civil or structural deficiencies.
  • Ensure civil and structural designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project execution strategy.

Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, Nevada regulatory requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Enforce adherence to AGA engineering standards, design criteria, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain clear and accurate engineering documentation and technical records.

Consultant & Contractor Coordination
  • Manage and coordinate EPCM firms, consultants, and contractors to ensure quality, schedule, and design compliance.
  • Review external engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and constructability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Support effective coordination between internal teams and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (required).
  • 5-7 years of civil and structural engineering experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience designing structural steel and reinforced concrete systems.
  • Experience supporting EPCM execution, construction, and plant commissioning.
  • Site grading, drainage, earthworks, and infrastructure design.
  • Structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and design standards.
  • Familiarity with mine infrastructure, process facilities, and industrial support structures.
  • Understanding of constructability and construction sequencing.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to environmental and health standards.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Clear technical communication and professional judgment.
  • Willingness to mentor others and contribute positively to team culture.
  • Awareness of community and cultural considerations in mining project development.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license required for site access and travel.
