SUMMARY:
The Structural Engineer (PE) will utilize engineering knowledge, judgment, and design software to perform structural analysis, design, and preparation of construction documents for building and facility projects. The individual will independently perform engineering assignments, lead structural design efforts on routine and moderately complex projects, coordinate multidisciplinary project activities, and provide technical leadership to junior staff while supporting successful project delivery through all phases of design and construction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Independently performs structural analysis, engineering calculations, and design for building and facility projects utilizing applicable codes, standards, and engineering practices.
• Leads structural design efforts for routine and moderately complex projects and performs significant portions of larger, more complex projects.
• Applies sound engineering judgment to develop practical, efficient, and constructible structural solutions.
• Prepares and reviews structural construction documents including plans, details, schedules, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Develops and coordinates Revit and AutoCAD construction documents utilizing engineering calculations, project requirements, and BRPH standards.
• Researches and interprets applicable building codes, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates structural systems with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and other project disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Performs site investigations, facility assessments, condition evaluations, and field observations during design and construction.
• Provides construction administration services including shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, site observations, field reports, and resolution of construction-related issues.
• Utilizes engineering software including RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, and related analysis tools to develop structural designs and calculations.
• Reviews, coordinates, and approves structural engineering work prepared by junior engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Performs quality control reviews of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and project deliverables prepared by engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and coordination to Early Career Engineers, designers, and drafting staff.
• Assists project managers and senior engineers with project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities.
• Participates in client coordination meetings and maintains effective communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Promotes communication, collaboration, quality, and technical excellence among project team members.
• Responsible for compliance with BRPH Policies and Procedures, Quality Standards, and CAD/BIM Standards.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis or related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
• Four (4) to eight (8) years of structural engineering experience in building design preferred.
• Experience in structural analysis, design, construction administration, and preparation of construction documents required.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and mentoring junior staff preferred.
SOFTWARE SKILLS:
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software including RISA, RAM, ENERCALC, and similar engineering programs.
CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Ability to obtain licensure in additional states as required.
• Structural Engineer (SE) licensure is a plus.
• Due to the nature of our work and security clearance requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.
