Job Summary:

The Junior Engineer plays a vital role within Beryl's structural engineering team, contributing to the design and execution of commercial and residential projects. This position supports engineering excellence through structural calculations, plan reviews, and coordination across disciplines.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical competency, demonstrates a genuine commitment to teamwork and collaboration, and is willing to integrate into Beryl's established systems, workflows, and communication channels to ensure consistency, quality, and accountability across the team.


Beryl is looking for a candidate who either currently holds their BCAIB certification or is willing to take the BCAIB exam within their first six months of employment. Successful completion may be considered for a salary increase based on company review and position needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural engineering calculations for concrete, wood, and steel structures across residential and commercial projects.
  • Review and validate engineering plans, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation for technical accuracy and compliance with applicable codes.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, drafters, and project managers to meet deadlines, maintain quality, and reinforce a culture of team success.
  • Support internal coordination by communicating workload, progress, and capacity to leads and management.
  • Assist in proposal preparation, project bidding, and client meetings as part of business development efforts.
  • Maintain accurate project tracking and visibility using Pipedrive's Projects feature, including timelines, budgets, and internal assignments.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to learn company-specific workflows and operating procedures.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
  • Obtain or maintain BCAIB certification, if applicable, to support plan review and code compliance services.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Active Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Current BCAIB certification preferred, or willingness to take the BCAIB exam within the first six months of employment.
  • Basic understanding of structural design and engineering principles.
  • Minimum of 2 years of AutoCAD experience.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design tools such as RISA 3D.
  • Knowledge of commercial and residential building codes and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, compliant work.
