Who You Are:
The Designer: Civil, Structural, Architectural is an early-career role responsible for supporting architectural, civil, and/or structural design activities across mission-critical development projects. This position assists with design, preconstruction, and construction efforts and plays a key role in coordinating design deliverables, maintaining standards, and supporting project execution.
The Designer works closely with Facilities, Contractors, Architects, Engineers, Commissioning Agents, Vendors, and Data Center Operations teams. This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow within a property development and design organization.
What You Will Do:
  • Support design, preconstruction, and construction activities for assigned projects
  • Review drawing packages for adherence to established design standards
  • Collaborate with internal and external design teams to ensure designs meet company standards, local codes, and AHJ requirements
  • Coordinate schedules for design deliverables and manage design workflows
  • Perform preliminary technical reviews of design drawings and calculations
  • Research technical topics and support design development efforts
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope requirements and communicate deviations from standards
  • Work with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to respond to RFIs and value design inquiries
  • Support project teams in resolving design issues identified during construction and commissioning
  • Work with consultants to develop and review architectural, civil, or structural calculations for compliance with design standards
  • Manage the standards process, including:
    • Design drawings
    • Specifications
    • Basis of Design (BODs)
    • Sequence of Operations (SOOs)
    • BIM models and related documentation
  • Typically support 1-3 projects concurrently

What You Will Need to be Successful (basic qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience
  • 0-4+ years of related professional experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, specifically:
    • PowerPoint for communicating project updates
    • Excel for summarizing design deliverables and calculations
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in property design, engineering, development, or construction
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (typically once per month for 2-3 days)
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal customer contracts

Other Key Skills:
  • Prior experience designing architectural, civil, or structural systems for:
    • Data centers
    • Construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of architectural, civil, or structural industry standards, procedures, and methodologies
  • Basic understanding of architectural, civil, or structural systems and their integration into mission-critical environments
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to leadership and non-engineers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface across all organizational levels
  • Proven team player who collaborates effectively with internal and external partners
  • Strong problem-solving skills at a tactical level
