Job description

Pediatric Mri Technologist

This is a 13-week contract position. Monday to Friday, 1 PM to 9:30 PM, with some flexibility; holidays as per unit needs. No on-call required.

We are seeking an MRI Technologist specializing in pediatric imaging to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess an associate degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiology, with certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) being a plus. You must be proficient in operating an MRI machine and be capable of providing age-appropriate care to patients ranging from neonates to 18 years old.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and safe scanning facility.
  • Coordinate with physicians to provide diagnostic imaging.
  • Prepare patients for scans and explain the procedure to ensure comfort.
  • Insert IVs when necessary for tests (IV placement is not performed here).
  • Document all procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Adhere to all MRI safety policies and guidelines.
  • Adjust scanning parameters to accommodate different patient ages.
  • Screen and prepare patients for scanning effectively.
  • Identify contraindications for safe scanning.
  • Independently determine when a scan must be stopped due to motion, and when sedation/anesthesia is required.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

  • Two (2) years of experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Experience with Siemens MRI scanners.
  • Level 1 Trauma Center experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months of pediatric experience.
  • ARRT certification and New York State Radiological Technologist License (candidates must obtain license before starting if not currently held).
