Job description

Registered Nurse

This position involves caring for a diverse patient population including those with respiratory failure, post-surgical needs, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-stroke, post-trauma, and cardiac patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin. House Supervisors are available 24/7. There will be nursing aids/patient care technicians on the unit with a ratio of 1:10. RNs are required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices, while respiratory therapists manage all respiratory equipment. Tele-monitoring is conducted by monitor technicians stationed in the ICU. Shifts are typically 12 hours, starting from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with a weekend requirement of every other weekend and availability to fill gaps. There is a holiday rotation and requirement to fill in as needed. Qualified medical-surgical nurses may float to the ICU, and nurses may float to acute rehabilitation as needed. Scrubs are required with only approved t-shirts allowed in any color. The charting system used is EPIC. A Bachelor's degree in nursing is not required for submission.
