What is a stratum?

In the context of technology and mining, 'stratum' usually refers to the Stratum protocol, which is used for communication between cryptocurrency miners and mining pools. Stratum jobs are tasks assigned to miners by the pool server, instructing them on how to compute hashes to find valid blocks. These jobs include the necessary data and parameters miners need to perform their work efficiently. The protocol improves mining efficiency and security by reducing bandwidth usage and centralizing job distribution.
