Summary
The position provides office, administrative and operational support services to a student services department.
Qualifications
Associate's degree (Required)
Between 2 and 5 years of related experience (Required)
Experience and skills in databases (Required)
Experience with Banner (Preferred)
Experience updating web pages (Preferred)
Experience in providing front line intervention in stressful situations (Preferred)
Experience in organizing and managing events (Preferred)
Essential Responsibilities
  • (Critical) Greets walk-in customers, answers multi-line telephones, schedules appointments for director and professional staff, and coordinates the preparation and dissemination of messages to students.
  • (Critical) Orders and maintains office supplies, including copier, and printer supplies, and processes purchase requisitions.
  • (Critical) Assists with budget preparation and monitors accounts.
  • (Critical) Maintains and updates content on web pages, including oversight of marketing of Student Life events.
  • (Critical) Prepares and maintains student records, including confidential files.
  • (Critical) Schedules and assists in coordinating special activities, events and conferences.
  • (Critical) Interacts with and assists students daily.
  • (Critical) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.
  • (Critical) Compiles information and prepares reports.
  • (Critical) Manages Student Groups, including advisors and student leaders, related to budget, marketing, fund raising, etc.
  • (Critical) Assists counseling staff and Dean of Students with confidential student matters that require immediate attention and intervention.
  • (Very Important) Assists with coordination of Student Government Associate meetings and events.
  • (Very Important) Mentors Student Group leaders, teaches leadership training, and monitors ongoing progress of current Student Groups.
  • (Minor Importance) Oversees the scheduling and service to students seeking counseling services.
