The Capital Project Manager team is part of the Global Technical Services organization and is committed to delivering manufacturing breakthroughs, product initiatives, cost savings, and supply assurance projects with excellence. As part of the GTS organization, you will directly connect to championing both the consumer and your teammates to be well and thrive every day. Global Technical Services is at the forefront of delivering the next generation high-speed packaging lines, enabling sustainable packaging, or designing a new plant, ready to meet the business challenges head-on.
As a Manufacturing Strategic Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of medium to large-size capital projects ensuring consistency with business strategy, commitments, and goals. You will use Clorox engineering principles and Early Management tools to determine strategies to kick off the project, evaluate and understand the project requirements, lead a larger engineering team consisting of packaging, process, electrical, and instrumentation; monitor project plans, schedules, budgets, expenditures, vendor management, and monthly reporting. Our goal is to deliver reliable equipment, infrastructure, and integrations that exceed startup and safety targets and help the company grow top and bottom lines.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan and lead medium to large-sized capital projects/programs that include the integration of outside technical resources.

  • Provide solutions to a wide range of difficult to complex problems using in-depth knowledge of specific manufacturing operations combined with the application of appropriate engineering principles.

  • Independently determine the general approach and specific solutions to technical problems. Demonstrates good judgment in making commitments and risk-taking.

  • Provide technical knowledge on evolving capabilities within both the industry and the technology so that the business unit can maintain its relative driven position in the marketplace.

  • Provide technical leadership to teams conceiving, developing, and implementing major technology upgrades or product improvement/line extensions. Routinely leads inter-organization teams working on product improvement and line extension.

  • Anticipate changing resource requirements and results and initiate appropriate responses in a way that optimizes overall project results.

  • Make effective presentations of technical material to non-technical people, both written and verbal. Able to build and lead effective work teams for midsize to large programs.

  • Drives use of the engineering field so that it causes significant shifts in our manufacturing processes.

  • Deliver fully integrated human, operational and technical systems that achieve targeted business results. Can evaluate, develop and lead a project from the technical, operational, and business perspectives.

  • Able to follow and champion the Capital Project Management process. Capable of following a focused process approach using the One-Right-Way process to ensure vertical system startups.

  • Interpersonal and technical skills earn respect and are recognized throughout the Clorox network. Continually builds networks in both the Clorox and external communities to more broadly influence the organization.

  • Proactive in dealing with confrontation and delivering effective solution solutions for the business.

  • Works very complex issues using in-depth analysis and can evaluate tangible and intangible variables.

  • Leads programs and initiatives needed to improve the technical area.

  • Lead Community of Practices Strategic planning

  • Define CoP objectives aligned with organizational goals, develop strategic plans and KPIs, champion change management, and ensure representation across regions, functions, and business units.

  • Identify and engage partners and sponsors, mentor members, build leadership capacity, and create and disseminate standards, tools, training, and knowledge content.

  • Lead application functionality backlog, define and document sprint deliverables and user stories, coordinate SME involvement, and review, accept, or reject completed work based on acceptance criteria.

  • Act as a bridge between business partners and the ACCP development team, run showcases, coordinate and support testing, gather user feedback, and ensure solutions meet business needs before launch.

  • Monitor engagement and adoption, maintain comprehensive documentation, prepare progress reports for leadership, and provide ongoing SAP solution support and issue resolution.

  • Travel is required 40-60% depending upon project activity

What we look for:

  • Degree in engineering - civil, mechanical, industrial

  • 10+ years in engineering and manufacturing operations management

  • 5+ years leading increasing complexity and scale of capital projects and budgets.

  • 2+ years in people management (employee selection, placement, development/coaching, career planning)

  • Hands-on experience with SAP modules (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, SAP Fiori) and understanding of their functionalities.

  • Technical Knowledge of Area: Advances functions technical knowledge and links with experts within the field. Recognized as an expert internally and builds external contacts. Lead New technology and complex projects independently

  • Interpersonal Relations: Leads and develop programs to build technical capability in the GTSLT Group

  • Motivation & Commitment: Creates an atmosphere that drives exceptional results.

  • PMP certification (desired)

The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

-Zone A: $128,000 - $252,200

-Zone B: $117,400 - $231,200

-Zone C: $106,700 - $210,200
