Job description

The Procurement team is growing and looking for a full-time Strategic Sourcing Associate to join our team!

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career procurement or supply chain professional looking to build experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and purchasing operations. Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, you'll support sourcing initiatives, collaborate with internal stakeholders, assist with vendor purchasing programs, and help identify cost savings opportunities that contribute to the success of the business.

This role offers hands on experience with sourcing, procurement analytics, vendor management, and contract administration while providing opportunities for professional growth and career advancement within Procurement.

The successful candidate will have 0 to 2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, business operations, or a related field. Internship or co-op experience is welcomed. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with vendor contract negotiations, renewals, and purchasing activities while partnering with corporate departments and stakeholders.
  • Support sourcing initiatives and assist in identifying cost savings opportunities across vendor spend.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess current and future purchasing needs while identifying opportunities to consolidate spend, improve efficiencies, and increase preferred vendor compliance.
  • Analyze purchasing and spend data to help identify sourcing opportunities, vendor trends, and process improvements.
  • Submit requisitions in the Purchasing system on behalf of business units as needed.
  • Administer various vendor purchasing programs across the company.
  • Partner with the Purchasing Manager on sourcing projects and procurement initiatives throughout the year.
  • Gather feedback from business units regarding vendor performance and assist with resolving purchasing related issues.
  • Obtain vendor quotes and support pricing and contract negotiations with guidance from the Purchasing Manager.
  • Assist in resolving vendor issues related to contract obligations, service levels, product quality, and pricing.
  • Provide support to business units regarding purchasing processes, policies, best practices, and contract submissions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Purchasing, Finance, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, operations, finance, or another related business function.
  • Internship or co-op experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or sourcing is a plus.
  • Strong interest in procurement, vendor management, and strategic sourcing.
  • Experience organizing or analyzing data in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles or vendor management is a plus.
  • Oracle Cloud experience is a plus.
  • Purchasing certification is a plus.

This position is on site in Hunt Valley, MD. Candidates must be local or willing to commute.

The base salary compensation range for this role is $55,000 to $63,000.  Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
