Abundant Professional Services is seeking an energetic, relationship-driven Business Development & Strategic Partnerships Manager to expand our presence throughout Virginia and surrounding markets. This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities while building strategic partnerships that support the company's long-term growth.
The ideal candidate understands consultative selling and has successfully sold business-to-business professional services. Rather than making cold sales, this individual will serve as a trusted advisor who identifies workforce challenges and connects business owners with practical HR, leadership development, compliance, staffing, and training solutions.
Anticipated hire date: August 17, 2026.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with small and mid-sized businesses.
  • Schedule and conduct discovery meetings with business owners, executive directors, and organizational leaders.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent sales pipeline using the company's CRM.
  • Generate qualified leads through networking, referrals, community engagement, and strategic outreach.
  • Represent Abundant Professional Services at business events, trade shows, chamber meetings, and conferences.
  • Conduct follow-up activities that convert prospects into long-term clients.

Strategic Partnerships
  • Develop referral relationships with accountants, attorneys, payroll providers, insurance brokers, financial institutions, chambers of commerce, workforce organizations, and nonprofit associations.
  • Identify partnership opportunities that expand the company's market presence.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to promote training and workforce development programs.

Sales & Revenue Growth
  • Present consulting, HR compliance, staffing, executive coaching, leadership development, and workforce training services.
  • Prepare preliminary proposals and coordinate with the CEO on complex opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed established sales and revenue goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospecting activities and client interactions.

Market Intelligence
  • Monitor industry trends and identify emerging business opportunities.
  • Provide feedback regarding competitor activity and client needs.
  • Recommend new service offerings based on market demand.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three or more years of successful B2B business development or consultative sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success selling professional services, workforce solutions, business consulting, training, staffing, payroll, insurance, financial services, or comparable business solutions.
  • Proven history of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent networking, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage sales activities.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout the Hampton Roads, Richmond, and surrounding Virginia markets.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience selling HR consulting, staffing, leadership development, or workforce-related services.
  • Established relationships within the Virginia business community.
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations or government contractors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Compensation Structure
Base Salary: $42,000 annually
Commission: 10% of collected revenue on eligible new client contracts during the first 12 months of the client relationship, paid in accordance with the company's commission policy.
Quarterly Performance Incentives: Additional bonuses may be awarded based on achievement of strategic sales goals, pipeline development, and partnership objectives.
Work Hours and Start Date
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Onsite position
