Job description
MCAPS-Core accelerates customer outcomes and business growth. By uniting product, engineering, marketing, sales, customer success, and partners around a common customer mission, we help customers realize value faster and turn innovation into measurable business impact. Through deep technical expertise and differentiated go-to-market execution, we win competitively, capture market share, and scale repeatable growth motions. We differentiate through value creation - delivering world-class, AI-powered customer experiences that accelerate adoption, strengthen loyalty, and create sustainable competitive advantage, driving growth that outpaces the market.
The Customer & Commercial Success (CCS) organization, an organization within MCAPS-Core, is the connected engine that turns Microsoft's commercial strategy into execution at scale - making it simpler and faster for the field to win for every customer, in every segment, region, and role. The organization brings together planning, landing, execution excellence, services portfolio and delivery, and field activation across ATU, STU, and CSU to accelerate customer value, drive growth, and strengthen the end-to-end experience across every customer moment.
Microsoft's Global Strategy & Operations (GSO) team turns strategy into execution for the Core commercial organization. The pace and complexity of the business demand disciplined operating rhythms that keep senior leaders aligned on the most important priorities, surface insights and blockers early, and drive measurable progress against commitments month over month.
As part of Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions - Core (MCAPS-Core) and the Customer & Commercial Success organization, GSO owns the rhythm of the commercial business-including the Commercial Business Overview (CBO), Cohorts, and the Core organization's operating cadence-and serves as a connective interface across regional SE&O leadership, the Commercial Solution Areas (CSA), and the field.
Operating as a high-influence individual contributor, the Senior Manager, Strategic Operations leads the operations and execution of the Core organization's most critical business rhythms-from the organization-wide rhythm of business to the executive-level Commercial Business Overview-while orchestrating cross-organization alignment with regional leads and helping govern strategic sales investments. You bring structure to ambiguity, prepare senior leaders to make decisions, and drive follow-through across many teams you do not own.
This posting covers two openings. The responsibilities below span the full scope of the team's work and may be allocated flexibly across the two roles based on business priorities; they describe the collective remit rather than a fixed split between the positions.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
Rhythm of Business
- Shape and evolve the Core organization's executive operating model, keeping leadership focus aligned to the highest-impact business priorities.
- Drive governance that translates strategic objectives into measurable execution and clear accountability across the organization.• Partner with senior leaders to surface emerging opportunities, business risks, and cross-organizational dependencies early through the operating cadence.
- Establish scalable frameworks that strengthen transparency, decision-making, and cross-functional alignment across business priorities.
- Convert executive discussions into outcomes by driving clarity on ownership, commitments, and organizational follow-through.
Commercial Business Overview (CBO)
- Lead the operations and execution of the Commercial Business Overview (CBO), directing executive attention to the issues with the greatest impact on business performance and growth.
- Synthesize insight from across the organization into trends, opportunities, barriers, and the strategic actions that need senior leadership engagement.
- Partner with business leaders to frame complex challenges into clear decisions, recommendations, and executive-ready discussions.
- Connect business priorities, performance outcomes, and leadership actions across Core, CSA, and field organizations.
- Enable confident leadership decisions through compelling business narratives, data-driven insight, and a clear articulation of business impact.
Cross-Organization & Regional Leadership Alignment
- Serve as a strategic interface between Core Strategy & Operations and regional SE&O leadership, keeping priorities, initiatives, and business objectives aligned globally.
- Build mechanisms for continuous feedback between corporate and regional stakeholders to improve execution quality and responsiveness.
- Drive consistency across strategy, planning, and execution teams in priorities, messaging, and delivery against objectives.
- Foster collaboration that accelerates adoption of key initiatives and strengthens organizational effectiveness.
Operating Model & Continuous Improvement
- Identify where cadence, tooling, or process can be simplified or automated to reduce overhead and raise the quality of decisions.
- Set and share the standards, tools, and mechanisms that make the organization's business rhythms repeatable and scalable.
- Role-model early adoption of new capabilities, including AI, to raise the bar on how strategic operations are run.
