Legal Operations Manager

Executive Leadership Role | Hybrid Flexibility | $110K–$130K + Bonus

Do NOT apply unless you are:

  • Operationally strong and people-focused
  • Strategic without losing attention to detail
  • Comfortable making decisions and owning outcomes
  • Calm under pressure
  • Financially literate and KPI-driven
  • Process-oriented without becoming bureaucratic
  • Entrepreneurial and growth-minded

Or, put simply:

You know how to turn chaos into systems and systems into results.

Ag & Business Legal Strategies (ABLS) is seeking a high-level operations leader to help scale a nationally recognized law firm serving farmers and business owners across Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri.

This is not a traditional “office manager” position.

This is a strategic leadership role for someone who can lead people, drive operational performance, improve systems, manage financial accountability, and help execute firm-wide growth initiatives alongside ownership.

If you thrive in fast-moving professional environments, enjoy building teams and systems, and want a true seat at the leadership table — this opportunity was built for you.

About the Firm

Ag & Business Legal Strategies is a nationally recognized debt restructuring and non-consumer bankruptcy law firm helping farmers and business owners navigate financial crises, preserve assets, reduce tax exposure, and rebuild sustainable businesses.

Approximately 75% of our clients are farmers. The remainder are entrepreneurs and business owners facing serious operational and financial challenges.

We are an uncommon law firm — deeply committed to understanding the financial and operational realities of our clients' businesses, not just the legal mechanics.

We don’t just process legal files. We help rebuild businesses and lives.

That mindset drives everything we do — and we are looking for an operations leader who shares it.

What You’ll Do

As Legal Operations Manager, you will oversee and optimize the firm’s day-to-day business operations while partnering directly with ownership on growth strategy, performance management, staffing, and execution.

You will lead operational initiatives across:

  • Team leadership & organizational development
  • Financial operations & budgeting
  • Process improvement & workflow optimization
  • Recruiting, onboarding & HR management
  • KPI tracking & operational reporting
  • Technology systems & cybersecurity oversight
  • Vendor management & accountability
  • Quarterly business planning & execution
  • Strategic project management
  • Firm culture & retention initiatives

You will directly manage non-attorney staff and help scale operational infrastructure as the firm grows toward a projected $3M+ operating budget.

Competitive Compensation & Benefits

  • $110,000–$130,000 base salary
  • Performance-based quarterly bonuses
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Hybrid/flexible work arrangements
  • Executive development opportunities through ALA (Association of Legal Administrators)

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, HR, or related field
  • Proven success leading operations within a professional services organization
  • Experience managing teams, systems, budgets, and operational performance
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience implementing accountability systems and driving execution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Law firm or legal industry experience
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar operational budgets
  • Familiarity with legal technology and practice management systems
  • Background in operational scaling or organizational growth

If you’re ready to help lead an uncommon law firm doing meaningful work, we’d like to hear from you.
