The Manager for Strategic Market Development must be committed to the mission, vision, and values of Thermo Fisher Scientific through ethical behavior. This position requires critical thinking and working with all key partners.
 

  • Support the development of long-term strategic plans to deliver sustained profitable growth and drive strategic revenue growth projects and key business processes aligned with the product roadmap.

  • Support the development and coordinate execution of Vertical Market strategies including programs, initiatives, New Product development (NPD) programs, business case and value proposition in targeted growth markets

  • Develop a deep understanding of the global and regional market and competitive dynamics and execute a Voice of Customer and Voice of Sales Program to develop actionable insights and prioritize NPD requirements.

  • Develop and lead a process to prioritize and execute External Partnerships to drive expansion into high growth adjacent markets

  • Drive Internal Collaborations with Commercial, Marketing, Product Management and R&D teams to create increased customer value across shared workflows

  • Support the NPD process and mentor the team to strengthen the business acumen skill set including business case, ROI development, and pricing/performance positioning strategies

  • Lead engagement cadence with the regional commercial teams to communicate business strategy, priorities and manage required business unit support including pricing, training, marketing, service and technical support.

  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business requirements and customer impact

  • Travel to meet with customers, visit regional offices and attend conferences

  • Support the budgeting and planning process to meet financial objectives and proactively seek opportunities to drive continuous improvements to the operating results

  • Delivers monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reporting with market and competitive analysis

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science and/or degree in Business Marketing (MBA strongly preferred)

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive career growth and experience in marketing, product management and / or sales leadership roles or relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Highly developed commercial and business acumen; an ability to recognize growth opportunities and capitalize on them

  • Possess ability to understand advanced level of technical product knowledge

  • Experience working in a multinational company with demonstrated ability to lead effectively and get results in a matrixed management operating environment

  • Effective communicator (verbal, written and presentation), with a demonstrated ability to influence through clear communication. Fluency in English is required

  • Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw accurate conclusions, and formulate clear strategy and policies

  • Possess a continuous process improvement mentality with the ability to manage change

  • Advanced skill in use of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, to build strategic relationships and networks

  • Open to travel up to 25%
