Job Overview

The Strategic Initiatives FinOps and Project Lead reports to the IT Infrastructure Strategic Initiatives Leader and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering infrastructure initiatives with a focus on cloud financial management, cloud platform optimization, and cross-functional project execution. The role partners across infrastructure, finance, security, operations, and delivery teams to improve cost visibility, strengthen governance, and execute projects that modernize and simplify the enterprise technology landscape.

This role requires practical FinOps experience, Azure or equivalent cloud infrastructure experience, and a record of managing multiple projects or workstreams at the same time. The position blends hands-on analysis, structured project delivery, stakeholder communication, and continuous improvement.

A Day In The Life
  • You will work within the Infrastructure Strategic Initiatives team, supporting programs that span infrastructure, business, and enterprise technology delivery. The team operates across multiple domains, including IT Service Management, FinOps, M&A integration, and new product introductions, with a focus on coordinated execution across technical and business functions.
  • Each day centers on cloud FinOps program management and operational discipline. You will track cloud consumption, analyze cost drivers, and work with engineering and finance teams to align usage with budget and forecast targets. This includes identifying optimization opportunities, validating realized savings, and maintaining accurate reporting that supports governance and decision making.
  • You will also lead or contribute to cross-tower initiatives, managing workstreams from intake through delivery. This includes planning, tracking milestones, resolving dependencies, and communicating status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders. The role requires consistent coordination across infrastructure teams, business partners, and vendors to ensure progress against Hubbell's strategic objectives.
  • The work blends hands-on analysis with structured project execution. One part of the day may involve reviewing Azure cost data and identifying rightsizing opportunities; another may involve preparing executive updates or aligning teams on delivery timelines. Success in this role comes from maintaining clear visibility into managing performance and project outcomes, and driving actions that improve cost control, governance, and execution.
  • Manage strategy and mature cloud FinOps processes across Hubbell cloud environments, including cost visibility, allocation, forecasting, optimization tracking, and recurring reporting.
  • Partner with infrastructure, platform, and finance stakeholders to identify savings opportunities, improve governance, and support budget alignment for cloud services.
  • Lead cross-tower infrastructure and cloud initiatives from intake through implementation, including planning, milestone tracking, risk management, dependency coordination, and status reporting.
  • Support strategic demand across the Infrastructure Strategic Initiatives organization, with focus on cloud, automation, operational improvement, and project execution.
  • Coordinate work across technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and partners to drive accountable execution and remove delivery blockers.
  • Develop executive-ready reporting and presentation materials that communicate progress, cost performance, decisions, and risks clearly.
  • Partner with cloud and infrastructure teams to improve Azure or equivalent platform efficiency, governance, resiliency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Contribute to standards and practices for cloud resource hygiene, tagging, rightsizing, lifecycle management, and reservation or commitment planning where applicable.
  • Support process improvements that increase consistency, transparency, and execution quality across strategic initiatives and operational work.
  • Help ensure service delivery from third-party partners for assigned workstreams and support vendor accountability through structured follow-up and reporting.
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
What will help you thrive in this role?

Experience
   4 to 7 years of experience in IT project delivery, infrastructure initiatives, cloud operations, FinOps, technical program work, or comparable roles.
   Experience with cloud financial management practices such as cost analysis, showback or chargeback, forecasting, optimization, and governance.
   Experience with Microsoft Azure or an equivalent enterprise cloud platform such as AWS or Google Cloud.
   Experience managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously with clear ownership of scope, timeline, risks, and reporting.
   Experience working with infrastructure, security, operations, or service delivery teams in a global environment.
   Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate technical and financial information into practical decisions and reporting.
   Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
   Experience working with vendors, managed service providers, or external delivery partners.
   Ability to travel up to 10 percent for regional or global business needs.

Technical Competencies
   Demonstrated project management experience required; formal project management certification preferred.
   FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Engineer preferred.
   Azure certifications preferred, such as Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certifications.
   Project management certifications preferred, such as PMP, CAPM, PMI Agile credentials, or equivalent subscriptions or memberships that support ongoing project management practice.
   ITIL Foundation or similar service management certification preferred.
   Proficiency with cloud cost reporting, financial analysis, governance controls, and executive reporting.
   Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure domains such as identity, endpoint, networking, server, virtualization, and cloud operations preferred.

Education
   Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Technology, Finance, or a related field preferred.
