The Strategy and Business Development Group (SBD) is an internal consulting function. The Senior Manager of the Strategy and Business Development Group (SBD) is a critical and highly visible team member that will collaborate and partner closely with executive leaders. We are seeking someone who can drive strategic initiatives, including corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, new business development, and other high-impact priorities at the enterprise level. This includes working with and supporting senior Ameriprise leaders to turn growth strategies into actionable plans that drive results and strengthen our competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of core project components, pinpoint key issues, and use targeted analysis to drive effective solutions.
  • Communicate hypotheses clearly and deliver actionable insights to project teams through well-structured research and analysis.
  • Collaborate with client team members to lead problem-solving efforts, directing the team to execute and deliver precise actionable solutions.
  • Craft a compelling rationale for recommendations and communicate them clearly to the client team, ensuring seamless adoption and execution.
  • Support senior Ameriprise leaders in executing recommended strategies.
  • Assist in reviewing strategies across all business lines to ensure alignment with the overall Ameriprise strategies.
  • Identify and provide analytical support for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestiture opportunities.
  • Align on strategic initiatives through emphasizing the implementation of executional plans.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Direct experience working in financial services OR experience working in a Fortune 500 company.
  • Experience in consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or marketing strategy. especially within a financial services context.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and thought leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to effectively interact with senior executives.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA from a top-tier institution.
  • Experience working within a Wealth or Asset Manager.
  • Experience in using Microsoft 365 Copilot as well as software-embedded generative AI tools for strategy development, data analysis, competitive and market intelligence, executive-level synthesis and recommendation generation.

In-Office Collaboration
We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $140,200 - $192,800 a year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
