Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's Grounds department is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Receives, records, unpacks, stores, and issues a variety of store items to include materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Maintains records and accountability for store items, servicing and maintaining equipment, and recommending the purchase of equipment and supplies.
- Checks incoming materials for quantity and quality against invoices or purchase orders, reporting discrepancies to a supervisor.
- Issues supplies on approved requisitions.
- Prepares and maintains a perpetual inventory system for all storeroom and laboratory supplies and equipment using a PC.
- Assembles, packs, and arranges for transport of all stored goods and materials.
- Maintains the cleanliness and order of all department storerooms and storage areas.
- Maintains a separate card file for items issued to personnel outside of the Grounds department.
- Maintains the ordering of uniforms (including coveralls and jackets) for each employee; reports any uniform changes, repairs, or complaints to the uniform provider.
- Maintains monthly fuel reports for vehicles and equipment; communicates reports to Accounting personnel.
- Maintains up-to-date insurance cards on each vehicle.
- Distributes chemicals to include: insecticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to technicians as needed.
- Assists with front desk in case of absences to include answering phones, keeping up with paperwork as needed, issuing purchase orders, etc.
- Prepares and maintains department hydration station for crew use during hot weather.
- Performs routine inspections on department safety equipment (AED, Eye Wash Stations, etc).
- May be required to prepare and paint store items for use, issue, and reissue.
- Must be able to lift and handle 50 lb objects and carry them short distances.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
