Job description

Summary: Cuts multiple layers of fabric into parts for articles such as gloves and / or clothing by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drills holes through layers of fabric or cuts notches in edges of parts with scissors or electric cutter to mark parts for assembly.
  • Sharpens blade with abrasive stone or belt attached to cutter as quality of cut indicates dull blade.
  • Changes cutter blades.
  • Guides layers of fabric around blade of stationary cutter (bandsaw), according to pattern markings.
  • Spreads fabric on table preparatory to cutting.
  • Arranges patterns on top ply of fabric and marks outline of pattern on fabric with chalk or crayon.
  • Other duties as assigned.
