Job description

Overview: IFP Automation is seeking a highly motivated Customer Service Specialist to join our team in Fishers, Indiana. We are a family-owned automation and motion control supplier that has proudly served customers throughout the US since 1976. With recent expansions to our facility and team, this role presents an exciting opportunity for professional growth in a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

What You’ll Do: Provide exceptional service to customers and internal teams by promptly and accurately:

  • Responding to customer and interdepartmental inquiries.
  • Provide administrative and customer service support to outside sales engineers, including generating quotes, entering orders, expediting deliveries, and assisting with other tasks to help manage their assigned accounts efficiently.
  • Independently research and retain technical product information, with support and training provided by our in-house electrical and mechanical application engineers as needed.
  • Preparing and following up on customer quotations.
  • Processing and expediting customer and vendor orders as needed.
  • Assisting with product identification, pricing, and delivery coordination.
  • Contacting customers as directed to ensure follow-through and satisfaction.
  • Preparing weekly order status reports for selected accounts.
  • Monitoring database entries for inconsistencies and making corrections as necessary.
  • Occasionally traveling for vendor or product training sessions.
  • Warehouse Support (Occasional, as needed to fill in during PTO or when asked by supervisor):
    • Pull, package, and process outgoing shipments via FedEx, UPS, and LTL carriers
    • Receive, check in, and process inbound vendor shipments
    • Track inbound shipments for freight cost accuracy and classification
    • Maintain warehouse inventory organization and cleanliness
    • Assist with physical inventory cycle counts and bin location accuracy in ERP
    • Operate forklift, hand truck, or other equipment to move and store materials

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of customer service experience, ideally in an industrial, technical, or distribution setting.
  • Ability and willingness to be in our Fishers Indiana office each business day.
  • Familiarity with motion control, automation, or industrial components is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Trulinx, P21, Epicore, SAP) and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to manage data accurately and efficiently across platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfort working with or learning technical product data with internal support.
  • Willingness to jump in and support warehouse operations as needed.
  • Forklift experience (certification a plus, or willingness to be trained).
  • A team player with a proactive, customer-first mindset.
