ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  I. FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Purpose

The purpose of this job is to pick-up and/or deliver merchandise as required and serve as a company representative, promoting the reputationย  of United Central Industrial Supply Company in a positive manner.

Primary Functions

ย ย  Operate company vehicles safely.

ย ย  Load and unload merchandise on vehicles.

ย ย  Obtain signatures and/or payments upon delivery of merchandise.

ย ย  Follow assigned scheduling of deliveries; make deliveries on time as scheduled.

ย ย  Follow proper procedures in reporting accidents in accordance with company policies.

ย ย  Maintain vehicles appearance, reporting any needed maintenance; observe traffic laws and regulations.

ย ย  Maintain neat personal appearance; always remain courteous and service minded in dealing with customers.

ย ย  Keep supervisor informed of shortages, overages or damaged merchandise and unresolved customer complaints.

Additional Functions

ย ย  Maintain housekeeping in the warehouse and stockyard.

ย ย  Assist in the stock transfer process.

ย ย  Comply with prescribed safety regulations of this company and its customers when entering their property.

ย ย  Any other duties that supervisor feels necessary to fulfill the objectives of the company.

ย ย  Attend training courses to include but not limited to recertification and safety.

ย ย  Perform counter sales, inventory control and other departmental duties as required.

Required Equipment

ย ย  Various sized delivery vehicles.

ย ย  Knuckle boom crane.

ย ย  Forklift.

ย ย  Dollies, binders, chains, straps and covers.

Minimum Required Qualifications

ย ย  Commercial Drivers License - Proper Class Specification.

ย ย  One Year Commercial Driving Experience Preferred.

ย ย  General understanding of Department of Transportation Regulations.

ย ย  Successfully pass a company administered driving test.

ย ย  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Communication

ย ย  Read, write and fully comprehend delivery tickets, packing lists, invoices, transfer requests, special material instructions, M.S.D.S. literature and other information pertaining to the job.

ย ย  Communicate orally to customer and supervisor.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  II. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands

ย ย  Be able to lift objects of varying weight and carry a distance of twenty yards.

ย ย  Be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.

ย ย  Be able to climb up and down trucks, ladders, shelving, etc.

Working Environment

ย ย  It will be necessary to work in a varying degree of temperatures indigenous of the region.

ย ย  Work in a warehouse environment with merchandise in varying stages of resale.

ย ย  Work at mining and industrial locations with different terrains and harsh conditions such as narrow, curvy, rough roads.

ย ย  Sit, stand or drive for extended periods of time.
