Job description

About Stitch Fix, Inc.
Stitch Fix (NASDAQ: SFIX) Stitch Fix is redefining retail by combining human creativity with advanced data science and Generative AI. As we build the future of personalized shopping, we're equally committed to building yours. We believe in investing in our team as much as our technology. Join us to be a trendsetter in the industry and help us redefine what's possible for our clients, while we help you reach your full potential.
About the Team
The Product Catalog team owns the product data that powers the Stitch Fix ecosystem, from assortment decisions to personalized recommendations that help clients find clothes they love. We are a multidisciplinary team of full-stack and MDM engineers who ensure catalog data is governed, trusted, and delivered reliably at scale across the company.
We operate in an agile-inspired manner across multiple time zones within the United States. We value a culture of ownership, clear communication, and operational rigor. The volume, complexity, and downstream impact of our product data create a deeply data-rich environment that rewards both architectural discipline and creative problem-solving.
About the Role
As a Lead MDM Engineer (Stibo STEP), you will be a hands-on technical owner of Stitch Fix's Stibo STEP platform, sitting at the intersection of engineering, merchandising, styling, and operations. Your work will directly enable how products are onboarded, enriched, governed, and surfaced across the business, powering critical workflows and client-facing experiences.
You will own the full lifecycle of product catalog and MDM solutions, from design and delivery through production support and continuous improvement. Partnering closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering and data science, you will help shape platform direction and ensure Stitch Fix's product data is accurate, scalable, and ready to support growth.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will...
  • Own and deliver initiatives that have real business impact for a mission-critical product catalog platform in a high scale environment.
  • Drive complex initiatives by breaking work into clear milestones and proactively communicating progress, risks, and tradeoffs with partners and leadership.
  • Influence platform strategy and data governance standards, shaping how product data powers Stitch Fix's most critical workflows.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams across merchandising, styling, product, and operations to solve complex data problems with AI-driven use cases.
  • Work in a highly collaborative environment that values thoughtful system design and operational excellence.
  • Invest in the growth of your team by mentoring and coaching engineers.
We're excited about you because...
  • You have 7+ years of hands-on experience with the Stibo STEP MDM/PIM platform in a retail or eCommerce environment.
  • You have 2+ years of experience as a technical leader, including leading projects and owning delivery outcomes.
  • You bring strong technical depth across STEP configuration, JavaScript-based business rules, SQL, and data modeling, with a strong grasp of REST APIs and integration patterns (e.g., Kafka, ETL processes).
  • You have strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills to identify data-driven and holistic solutions.
  • You can break down complex business needs into actionable plans, prioritizing high-impact work, and clearly communicating decisions and tradeoffs to technical and business partners.
  • You take ownership of operational excellence by participating in on-call rotations, resolving production incidents, and improving system reliability over time.
  • You enjoy mentoring and coaching engineers and seeing them learn and grow
  • You are flexible and curious
  • You might have knowledge of Ruby or similar backend languages
  • You might have exposure to AI and machine learning concepts
Why you'll love working at Stitch Fix...
  • We are a group of bright, kind people who are motivated by challenge. We value integrity, innovation and trust. You'll bring these characteristics to life in everything you do at Stitch Fix.
  • We cultivate a community of diverse perspectives- all voices are heard and valued.
  • We are an innovative company and leverage our strengths in fashion and tech to disrupt the future of retail.
  • We win as a team, commit to our work, and celebrate grit together because we value strong relationships.
  • We boldly create the future while keeping equity and sustainability at the center of all that we do.
  • We are the owners of our work and are energized by solving problems through a growth mindset lens. We think broadly and creatively through every situation to create meaningful impact.
  • We offer comprehensive compensation packages and inclusive health and wellness benefits.
