Development and Stewardship Manager

SON OF A SAINT

New Orleans, LA • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 23 days ago

Job description

About Us:

Son of a Saint exists to enhance the lives of fatherless young men through mentorship, emotional support, development of life skills, exposure to constructive experiences, and formation of positive, lasting peer-to-peer relationships. Son of a Saint equips young men with the tools they need to become productive men. We provide a secure and consistent environment for them, through which they find hope, vision, and opportunity. Son of a Saint mentors’ most important role is simply to be a good example.

Overview

The Development and Stewardship Manager play an important role in growing Son of a Saint’s community of annual and recurring donors. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this position is responsible for building relationships with current and prospective supporters, managing a mid-level donor portfolio, and helping donors deepen their connection to the organization’s mission and impact.

This role will focus heavily on identifying and securing new annual giving-level donors, increasing recurring giving participation, and launching a new donor giving circle designed to encourage sustained support. The Development and Stewardship Manager will partner closely with the Events Manager on the organization’s Women’s Luncheon and Men’s Dinner — two key donor engagement events centered around recurring giving circle members and supporters — while also supporting the execution of fundraising events throughout the year.

The ideal candidate is relationship-oriented, highly organized, and excited about creating meaningful donor experiences that lead to long-term engagement and philanthropy.

Responsibilities

Annual Giving and Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of current and prospective mid-level and annual donors through ongoing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Identify and secure new annual giving-level donors to support fundraising goals.
  • Grow recurring giving participation and donor retention through thoughtful engagement strategies.
  • Create and launch a new donor giving circle focused on recurring support.
  • Partner with the Chief Development Officer and Chief Executive Officer on donor cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Track portfolio activity and progress toward revenue, retention, and engagement goals.
  • Conduct prospect research and identify opportunities to deepen donor relationships.

Donor Stewardship and Engagement

  • Oversee the execution of Son of a Saint’s donor stewardship efforts, including acknowledgment letters, thank you calls, donor communications, and personalized engagement opportunities.
  • Engage donors through meetings, tours, cultivation gatherings, virtual information sessions, and other relationship-building activities.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship touchpoints throughout the year to strengthen donor loyalty and connection to the organization’s mission.
  • Support the planning and execution of donor recognition and appreciation activities for annual and recurring giving supporters.
  • Coordinate monthly prospect strategy meetings and provide timely donor research, briefing materials, and cultivation recommendations.

Event Support and Donor Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Events Manager on the planning and execution of the organization’s Women’s Luncheon and Men’s Dinner, with a focus on donor cultivation and recurring giving engagement.
  • Support donor and sponsor engagement strategies connected to fundraising and cultivation events.
  • Partner with the Development Team to leverage events as opportunities to identify, recruit, and steward recurring giving circle members and annual donors.
  • Assist with post-event stewardship and donor follow-up efforts.

Database and Records Management

  • Maintain accurate donor and prospect records within the Salesforce CRM.
  • Track donor interactions, stewardship activities, solicitations, and gifts in a timely and organized manner.
  • Generate reports related to portfolio activity, recurring giving participation, donor retention, and fundraising progress.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of donor communications and engagement history.

This position will require occasional travel and evening/weekend availability in support of donor meetings and organizational events.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of fundraising and development experience, with a preference for experience working directly with individual donors and managing donor relationships.
  • Experience processing donations and maintaining donor and gift records within a CRM platform, preferably Salesforce.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Professional presence, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of fundraising strategy, donor communications, stewardship, and development operations.
  • Commitment to Son of a Saint’s mission and vision.

All applicants should include a cover letter in addition to their resume.
