THE ROLE

The Steward Dishwasher is responsible for the basic, routine cleaning and preparation activities for the Foodservice Department, Groesbeck Golf Course and Legends Global sponsored/managed events and properties. The Steward Dishwasher shall assist in the food preparation and event clean up.

The Steward Dishwasher is responsible for providing superior experience and service to the customers, guests and vendors. The Steward Dishwasher will adhere to the policies and procedures designed to promote efficiency of operation and quality of service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for ensuring that all utensils, plate ware, silverware, pots, pans, trays, and other kitchen items are properly cleaned and available for use. The employee assists with food preparation, food production, and plate-up as needed and helps safely receive and store food and supply deliveries in designated areas. Duties include transporting, sorting, cleaning, and storing soiled dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, and kitchen supplies during all events, as well as properly washing and storing all dishes, glassware, utensils, tools, and equipment in compliance with local, state, and federal health standards. The position is also responsible for maintaining cleanliness by sweeping and mopping kitchen floors, the kitchen basement, dish room, and employee restroom; removing trash from all kitchen areas; and cleaning equipment, coolers, and storage areas. The employee must provide a safe, harassment-free work environment and ensure compliance with Legends Global policies, OSHA standards, Health Department regulations, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional responsibilities include adhering to departmental and organizational policies and procedures, promptly notifying a supervisor of any issues, following the departmental dress code, safely handling kitchen utensils and equipment such as knives, dishwashing machines, garbage disposals, choppers, steamers, tilt skillets, ovens, fryers, grills, and mixers, completing opening and closing duties, supporting Legends Global-sponsored special events, working irregular schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays with possible short-notice schedule changes, and performing other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or equivalent GED. Dishwashing experience in the Food and Beverage industry, preferably in a high volume-feeding environment found in a convention center, stadium or other public assembly facility.

Skills and Abilities

Ideal candidates must demonstrate the ability to interact positively with others in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner while maintaining a professional attitude and demeanor. The position requires strong teamwork skills, reliability, dependability, and consistent, timely attendance. Candidates should possess thorough knowledge of dish room set-up and tear-down procedures, dishwashing standards, and food safety practices, and be able to properly and safely handle cleaning products, supplies, culinary tools, and equipment. Maintaining impeccable personal hygiene, clean and organized work habits, and a positive public image is essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English, the ability to perform basic mathematical functions, and the flexibility to work safely and efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires the ability to multitask effectively while prioritizing and organizing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The employee must communicate clearly and professionally, listen attentively, follow directions accurately, and maintain strict confidentiality. The role involves frequent use of hands, the ability to adjust and focus vision, and the physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform frequent bending, twisting, reaching, with occasional squatting, climbing, and stair use. Flexibility is essential, including the ability to work in limited spaces as events needs dictate and to remain patient, calm, and cheerful under internal and external pressures. The employee must function effectively in busy settings with multiple people, noises, smells, and distractions. Additionally, this role requires the ability to work safely in inclement weather and varying environmental conditions, including exposure to cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, noise, fumes, food allergens, wet floors, cleaning agents, chemicals, oils, greases, solvents, and other outdoor and environmental elements, particularly within a golf course setting.
