Job description


Job Summary and Responsibilities

As the Manager Sterile Processing at St. Bernardine Medical Center you will be responsible for the operational objectives of the Central Sterilization department, and will provide management and guidance in the preparation and sterilization of instrumentation and packs, maintenance and surveillance over the cardiopulmonary resuscitation carts, and equipment assembled and dispensed through the department. Your oversight will also include the sterilization quality assurance performed in the Outpatient Surgery Center and in the L&D department as well as other departments using hospital sterilized products. 

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of all departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance of all with federal state and professional standards for sterile processing, and will review and update existing departmental policies and procedures annually. You will interview and hire staff for Sterile Processing, observe employees during the orientation program and monitor progress, and you will also conduct staff meetings and inservice trainings.

Job Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Five (5) years acute care Hospital experience required.
  • Three (3) years managerial experience directly related to Sterile Processing required.

Required Licensure:

  • HSPA Certified and Registered Central Service Technician Certification (CRCST), or CBSPD Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Supervisor (CSPDS), or CBSPD Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) required.
  • HSPA Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) rqeuired within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Education preferred.
  • Operating Room Experience preferred.
