Job Summary
Position: After-School Coach
School: N.E.W. Academy Canoga Park
Status: Part-Time, 10 Months (August-June)
Pay: $19-$20/hour (DOE)
Overview
N.E.W. Academy Charter Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable After-School Coach to support our expanded learning program. The Coach helps create a safe, positive, and engaging environment where students can grow academically, socially, and creatively. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with youth, leading activities, and contributing to a collaborative school community.
Key Responsibilities
Lead enrichment activities: arts & crafts, sports, STEAM, games, and performing arts
Provide homework support, tutoring, and structured academic activities
Supervise students to ensure a safe and positive environment
Support student behavior using positive guidance and program expectations
Assist with snack distribution and safe food routines
Take and maintain accurate attendance
Prepare materials for daily lessons and activities
Communicate student needs or concerns to the Site Supervisor
Assist with clerical tasks and general program operations
Participate in training and professional development
Desired Skills & Qualities
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
Ability to stay organized, positive, and dependable
Experience working with youth preferred
Bilingual Spanish/English highly desirable
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Must pass the District Basic Skills Test
DOJ Live Scan fingerprint clearance
Current (within 60 days of hire) TB test clearance
Schedule
Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri: 1:10 PM - 6:10 PM
Wed & Minimum Days: 12:10 PM - 6:10 PM
Additional hours during Winter, Spring, and Summer intersessions may be available depending on program needs.
