Position: HR Assistant I

Location:  Birmingham, AL 35243
Contract:  6 Months(Part Time-10Hrs/week)
Client:       Southern Company Services.


Position Overview

The HR Assistant I is an entry-level role within the Human Resources department, providing essential administrative and operational support across core HR functions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring smooth HR operations, maintaining accurate employee records, and supporting recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance activities.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, customer-service focused, and capable of handling confidential information with professionalism.


Key ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & Onboarding Support
  • Post job openings and assist with resume screening.
  • Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and coordinate onboarding activities.
  • Assist with orientation sessions and ensure completion of required documentation.
 Employee Records & Documentation
  • Maintain and update employee records in HR systems.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of employee data.
  • Prepare HR documents including:
    • Offer letters
    • Employment contracts
    • Policy documentation
  • Maintain organized physical and electronic HR files.
 Benefits & Timekeeping Administration
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries.
  • Support administration of benefits programs.
  • Manage timekeeping systems and track attendance.
  • Address employee time and attendance questions.
 Employee Relations & Communication
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine HR-related inquiries.
  • Assist in resolving basic employee concerns.
  • Support distribution of internal HR communications and announcements.
 Reporting & Compliance
  • Generate HR reports and track metrics such as:
