Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the upkeep of buildings and grounds at the McCrady Training Center, Army facilities at various SCARNG facilities state-wide. Supervise ad perform custodial duties to include the maintenance of floor finishes, wall finishes, windows/doors, latrine spaces and other custodial duties. Supervise and direct the activities of custodial personnel and contracted support. Serve as purchase card holder for purchases in support of buildings and grounds maintenance. Supervise the maintenance and cleaning of building spaces to include rest rooms and showers. Sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors, toilets, urinals, showers, walls and other surfaces. Replenish paper towels, toilet tissue, hand soap and other supplies as needed. Empty trash as required. Supervise the maintenance of floors in buildings by stripping, sealing, waxing and polishing. Vacuum and clean carpeted areas. Sweep and mop floors. Schedule floors maintenance as needed in order to maintain finishes and meet tenant and customer schedules. Coordinate directly for contracted work for the cleanliness of buildings and maintenance of building finishes. Develop scope of work, request for proposals and specifications. Review contractor bids and submittal. Award contract. Schedule contractor work with contractor and affected tenants/customers. Supervise contractor work to ensure it is completed to standard. Confirm contractor payments and conduct final inspection of contracted work. Manage time and attendance for assigned custodial employees. Manage state employee travel for official business. Completes SHRO required paperwork to include evaluations, counseling forms and disciplinary actions. Maintain custodial supplies and equipment. Contact vendors and contractors for quotes for materials and equipment. Prepare purchase requests and coordinate the ordering, purchase, shipment, receipt and payment for goods. Coordinate purchases with State Warehouse to improve efficiency and lower costs where possible. Issue supplies and equipment and maintain chain of custody as required. Coordinate with Training Center Warehouse Manager to account for the purchase of new equipment, the turn-in of old equipment and scheduled inventories.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsA high school diploma and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment. Knowledge of how to properly carry out custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance tasks. Knowledge of custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance standards and requirements. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of personnel, procurement and budgeting practices in state government. Knowledge of the concepts and techniques of on-the-job training. Ability to keep accurate written records. Ability to prioritize and make the optimal use of personnel, materials and equipment. Ability to plan, direct and review the work of subordinates. Incumbents function as line managers of custodial, groundskeeping or physical plant activities. Incumbents perform administrative and supervisory tasks, rather than hands-on custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance tasks.
Additional CommentsCoordinates and directs the activities of a custodial, grounds keeping, or maintenance staff. Employee must possess a valid SC Driver's license and complete the agency's driver's safety course. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for long periods of time. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
