TEST TECHNICIAN

The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.

JOB SUMMARY

Test Technician is responsible for  product testing and evaluation as well as preparing technical reports. This role supports the testing and evaluation of construction-industry products.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Conduct material and fire resistance tests on building materials and components to ensure compliance with transportation and military standards
  • Perform a range of technical measurements and tests on various building-product materials
  • Follow established procedures and working under direct supervision to carry out all assigned test activities
  • Operate & calibrate equipment: Ensure proper function and accuracy of all testing instruments.
  • Maintain facilities & equipment: Perform routine cleanings, minor repairs, and organize workspace
  • Prepare test samples & controls: Create, label, and document specimens for mechanical, fire, and quality-control testing
  • Execute standardized test methods: Collect and record data following established protocols
  • Analyze & calculate results: Perform basic statistical checks and routine calculations on test outcomes
  • Document & communicate findings: Log results in instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, lab worksheets, and generate concise project reports
  • Manage inventory intake: Receive and record incoming materials slated for testing
  • Maintain orderliness: Keep documentation, tools, and workspaces neat, safe, and compliant
  • Perform other duties as required

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, Associates Degree Preferred
  • 1-3 years laboratory experience
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Must have a good grasp of mathematics, and science 
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Physical ability to routinely lift at least 50 pounds 
  • Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
