Job description

The Test Engineer is responsible for executing comprehensive electrical and mechanical tests on MV Products. This role ensures that all manufactured units meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and international regulatory requirements such as IEC and IEEE before dispatch. You will work closely with the production teams to troubleshoot failures and maintain high-accuracy testing environments.
Key Responsibilities

  • Routine & Diagnostic Testing:
    • Perform standard routine tests on MV Products such as winding and insulation resistance, turns ratio (TTR), vector group verification, and no-load/load loss measurements, Primary injection, secondary injection tests, CB Tests,
  • High Voltage Operations: Carry out dielectric tests such as applied voltage (separate source) and induced overvoltage withstand tests to verify insulation integrity.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Accurately record all test data, analyze results against design parameters, and prepare detailed Certified Test Reports.
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT): Support the Test Lead in demonstrating equipment performance to customer inspectors and third-party auditors.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions or test failures using root cause analysis; collaborate with engineering to implement technical fixes.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily checks and basic maintenance of lab instrumentation (power analyzers, impulse generators) and ensure all tools are within their calibration window.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly follow high-voltage safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience: +5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or testing environment for power distribution equipment.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with testing equipment like insulation resistance testers, winding resistance meters, and secondary injection kits Such as Omicron, Doble, Megger, TM1600,...etc.
  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to high-voltage hazards, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling testing cables, tools, and heavy electrical components.
