The Test Engineer- Manufacturing Quality is responsible for provide factory test support at startup and as needed daily for the entire factory to ensure test equipment is working properly and does not cause lost starts. This role leads Test Systems for 3rd shift operations.

How You'll Create Possibilities
New Product Introduction
  • Develop and implement new and improved test methods to enhance capabilities, support growth, new model introduction, and improve outgoing quality via enhanced test firewalls.
  • Drive improvement projects through the CIB process. i.e. Able to write and analyze Test Codes for leak and flow rates, wattage, resistance, Hipot, Ground bond and other basic test parameters.
  • Drive project improvement pulsing's including organizing project leaders around Test Systems improvement goals.

Error Proofing
  • Implement Poke-Yoke work methods for testing and develop standard work and workstation aids to assist in operator training and operational consistency to improve quality yields.
  • Review daily assembly line test loops for equipment failure. Work with Process Improvement Engineers and maintenance to have the equipment repaired.

Factory Support
  • Act as the first point of contact for test equipment issues on the production floor.
  • Build strong partnerships with shop operations to react swiftly to inefficiencies.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on test equipment, ensuring spare parts and troubleshooting procedures are always in place.

Sustain
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain quality test equipment, and gages as assigned.
  • Ownership for the calibration and preventative maintenance of test equipment as assigned.
  • Ownership for the having spare parts and trouble- shooting procedures in place for test equipment to minimize down time as assigned.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
Required:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, CIM - Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical associate degree) or related discipline OR equivalent 5 years' of demonstrated success in manufacturing quality disciplines
  • 3-5 years of experience in troubleshooting and supporting manufacturing test equipment
  • Experience with manufacturing quality/NPI quality projects and process improvement
  • Experience interpreting data to solve problems, demonstrated skills in statistical analysis
  • Experience with manufacturing quality/ quality improvement projects and/or process improvement in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to work in large cross-functional teams that span multiple organizational levels
  • Strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills - will be expected to conduct strong coordination with adjacent shifts and provide report outs (written or verbal) to organizational leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company
  • Experience in the function of basic electrical components
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment, influencing others and driving change
  • Computer literate and skilled in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, and Outlook

Working Conditions
  • Hours & Weekends: 3rd shift. Working off-shift and weekends may be required.
  • Travel will be limited but may be required for domestic and/or international travel to customer sites/ plants, etc.
  • High-volume manufacturing environment with frequent standing, walking, and lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. is required.
  • This environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats.
