It is responsible for definition and governance of product-grade software ecosystems that enable development, validation, release, field deployment, fleet operations, updates, sustainment, and lifecycle management for globally deployed service cobots.# RESPONSIBILITIES* Architecture: Define the software architecture, technical roadmap, and interface strategy for Applied Materials service robotics platform, including embedded software, fleet connectivity, diagnostics, observability, simulation, and lifecycle tooling dependencies. Establish architectural guardrails for scalable product development, release management, software updates, cybersecurity alignment, quality practices, documentation, and long-term maintainability.* Project Delivery: Ensure project and program technical objectives are clearly defined, with outcomes, milestones, feasibility considerations, resourced, and technical risks understood before major execution phases.* Technical Leadership: Lead the dedicated software team, expected to remain lean in the early stage, while shaping the future operating model across the company, central software teams, and external partners. Cross-functional Leadership: Partner with central software organizations on standards, tooling, reusable infrastructure, security, compliance, release practices, and integration with existing Applied Materials software ecosystems.* Governance: Ensure all phases of software architecture, development, validation, deployment, and support are documented, and that information is transferred effectively across engineering, product, service, and governance stakeholders.* Technical Pathfinding: Spearhead adoption of new software technologies and methods where appropriate, ensuring created processes, designs, and architectures can be incorporated into Applied Materials products/services or disseminated to other teams.# JOB REQUIREMENTS## Technical KnowledgeComprehensive understanding of software architecture, software systems engineering, robotics software stacks, integration patterns, requirements, validation, release processes, release management and product lifecycle management.* Experience robotics software stack e.g. C/C++, Python, ROS2, Kinematic Solvers, Motion Planning, Simulation methodologies, Edge AI, Computer Vision, Sensor Fusion methods.* In depth knowledge of robotics controls, embedded/edge computing, simulation, cybersecurity, fleet operations, diagnostics, service workflows, supplier management, and product development governance.* Prior experience in developing products that combine hardware and software (e.g. robotics, consumer electronics, drones, medical devices).* AI competency: Knowledge of software development methodologies that utilize AI. Functional knowledge of AI model architectures across vision and transformer models.## Leadership* Direct or indirect experience in leading teams. This includes setting priorities, resource allocation, talent development, and work allocation.* Influences senior stakeholders and teams without direct reporting authority, including central software groups, robotics/product teams, field/service organizations, suppliers, and governance functions.* Creates structure in ambiguous early-stage product environments while maintaining practical execution focus and alignment to program outcomes## Impact* Impacts ability to develop, validate, deploy, and scale service robotics solutions by establishing the software architecture and operating model for a reusable, product-grade robotics platform.* Supports business results through roadmaps, plans, technical governance, resource prioritization, supplier alignment, and scalable software practices.## Interpersonal Skills* Communicates software strategy, trade-offs, risks, and priorities clearly to engineering teams, senior management, suppliers, and cross-functional partners.* Builds alignment across global teams and maintains close engagement with Singapore for the dedicated software team.## EducationMaster's or higher in Robotics, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering.
