Job description

Position: Stamping Machine Operator
Location: Naugatuck, CT
Department: Stamping
Shift: 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 1:45pm to 10:00pm
JOB SUMMARY
This production floor position is responsible for the efficient operation of presses and scrap unit by monitoring all steps to ensure that we are producing good quality parts at a standard rate. This position is also responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Check and maintain press lubrication levels as required
  • Load and unload aluminum to presses as required
  • Operate press controls for coil changes and production runs
  • Perform frequent dimensional and visual checks during production run and document gauging as required by QA Manager and customer specifications
  • Confer with quality control personnel regarding acceptability of raw parts during production runs. Ensure good parts are produced, and quarantine or scrap parts that do not meet standards or specifications
  • Operate the scrap unit in a safe manner
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Use of pallet jack to pull product to the Warehouse
  • Use a forklift to take scrap to the warehouse or load metal on the decoiler
  • Complete and enter all daily production paperwork accurately
  • Other duties as directed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are required
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions
  • Ability to work amp; multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Wear prescribed safety equipment always (safety boots, eye and ear protection)
  • Ability to be able to work in greasy/oily environments
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and make good judgment calls
  • Ability to lift / push / pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to accurately use measuring tools and hand tools
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, sometimes on a short notice
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory, quality and production records
  • Ability to maintain good attendance
