Job description

Overview:
Operates a spray-painting system or other equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on metal, fiber glass, wood or vinyl door components. Mixes paints and other solutions and monitors drying to ensure desired results. Completes finishing with baking, polishing or other materials. Set up and maintain the production line for door spraying. Performs general manual labor tasks. Assists a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.
Responsibilities:
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
• Assists in any phase of Production Shop operation
• Preparing doors for spraying stage
• Clean door of dust before staining primer
• Be capable of reading and understanding technical documents such as paint mixing procedures, and maintaining sprayer equipment as required
• Applies paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior door surfaces
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Stain and wipe doors of excess
• Place doors into oven to dry
• Finish doors by spraying clear coat
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Housekeeping duties including all forms of warehouse cleanup
• Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager
• Ability to service and perform regular PM (Preventative Maintenance) on the paint guns and paint booth. This includes changing parts on the spray guns and replacing air filters in the spray booth etc. as needed
• Measure and count products and materials
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• General knowledge of paint equipment such as paint guns and paint applications
• Produce quality work
• Ability to efficiently use air/hand tools to paint product, ability to read/understand humidity chart
• Operate pneumatic paint tools and accessories
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
• Previous warehouse/manufacturing experience
• Ability to stand and work for 8-10 hours per day
• Willingness to work overtime when needed
• Ability to organize and maintain detailed records
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to multi-task
• Read tape measure to 1/32" inch
• Ability to lift to 50+lbs.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English with proficiency.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential function of the job in order to avoid disruptions in production and customer service.
• Follow all operational and safety SOP's as written
• Performs other miscellaneous jobs as directed
Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
• 1-2 Years in the field or related area.
Pay:
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $20.00 + benefits. Base pay will vary within the range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is specific to Vandalia and may not be applicable to other locations.
