Job description

Staff Accountant- Part Time
St. Vincent de Paul - Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through its outreach center in the West End and through fifty-one parish-based volunteer Conferences (chapters). SVDP provides holistic direct assistance and systemic change services while treating neighbors in need with dignity, and compassion.
Position Overview: This is a part-time position and will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions for multiple entities of St. Vincent de Paul - Cincinnati.
Reports to: Controller
Hours: 25 hours/week
Location: SVDP's Liz Carter Center, 1125 William L. Mallory, Sr. Street, Cincinnati, OH 45214
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly closing activities, including preparation of journal entries, financial statements, and management reports
  • Perform bank account and balance sheet account reconciliations on a timely basis
  • Reconcile bank and credit card fees for multiple accounts
  • Maintain vendors as part of accounts payable function
  • Prepare financial, budget, and payroll information for grant applications and related reporting
  • Responsible for fixed asset accounting and tracking
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting software
  • Assist with preparation of required schedules and documentation for annual audit
  • Assist with annual reporting to SVDP national organization
  • Perform various analysis and ad hoc projects as required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years accounting experience, not-for profit experience a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and general accounting systems
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, including financial statement preparation
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills; detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, and effectively manage deadlines
